As if Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice weren’t enough, Shonda Rhimes reached down in her creative bag of tricks and explored the real life of D.C. fixer Judy Smith and delivered us a show that has taken the airwaves by storm.
Why is this show so good are you wondering? ANSWER –You know we love drama. It’s all about dirty little secrets, the dirty little secrets of politicians, public figures, and very important people. Dirty little secrets that cause stress! Ha, bet you were wondering what the devil My Health Mondays had to do with my favorite TV show. Just trying to lighten the space a little her at Rx Fitness Lady. Really, this show is so good that some of my fellow fans had a watch party for the winter finale. One of the biggest issues everyone talks about is the undercover affair of Fitz, Mr. President & Olivia Pope, the no nonsense cutthroat fixer, well at least she is when she isn’t dealing with Fitz, her little weakness.
Emotional Stress
The affair for the purposes of My Health Mondays will represent emotional stress.
I could make a list of other examples of stressful situations besides dating a married man, however since they all deal with the way we physically and mentally interact in relationships with spouses, significant others, friends, family, and acquaintances, I’ll let you govern yourself as it pertains to your life, if at all.
Stress can be detrimental to your health. It can play a factor in a number of diseases, one being a causing agent to your battles with Insomnia.
Most importantly, I wanted to share that it can cause a very serious state of depression and anxiety (more on these topics on a future My Health Monday).
If you allow something/someone to stress you, you will exhibit feelings of anger, anxiety, and repetitive frustration. If you are always ticked, wondering and being suspicious, throwing out accusations, (all characteristics you will develop if in a stressful situation) you are making it tough on those arteries of yours! You will be more prone to heart attacks and other coronary diseases. You could really be damaging your health!

Do you feel that you could be suffering from depression? Are you always mad? Have you isolated yourself from people?
What did we learn from Olivia Pope! You all see her in the room hyperventilating and stuff, making bad decisions, can’t really sleep at night, waiting around for that phone call from Fitz at night. What about the episode “The Other Woman”? It was hit! It is REAL LIFE! Holidays spent alone, your child is an outsider, you are lonely at night, etc. etc. etc. Stress Stress Stress!

Even though we love the show, the reality is when you allow yourself to continue in a stressful situation, it’s like giving yourself an STD. You are infecting your mind! Doesn’t that sound crazy?
Moving On
Physically try to schedule fitness into your routine, regular prayer, and meditation. The most promising and peaceful future however lies in eliminating the situation. If the stress is something that can’t be eliminated, try changing the way you think about it. The last message of the year from the pulpit where I attended service talked about turning your back on stuff in 2013. I challenge you, if you are dealing with stress that is avoidable to Turn Your Back and walk away!

YES! Scandal is BACK. I am HERE for it!! I don’t know if I’m ready to see Huck get tortured but I’ll just depend on hubby to tell me when to open my eyes again. lol. You are very right about stress, I try to keep my stress levels down as much as possible, but working out daily. I find that if I don’t make it to the gym my stress levels are through the roof!

Yes! Combat/Kickboxing is a MAJOR stress reliever! I’m so over the Scandal Holiday break! Thursday, Thursday, Thursday!
Now how can you say this post was made without anyone in mind?!? You know you were talking about me! I have to learn to positively deal with the stressors of my job and find ways to get back to my happy. And I don’t even want to get into the Scandal conversation!!! Olivia Pope lives such a complicated life – being able to fix everything in the political world but having no control of her personal life…I said I wasn’t going to start!!! Thanks for the enlightening post!!
Lol, you’re welcome Askia! Thanks for coming back! Many blessings getting back to happy with your career in 2013! Changing the way we view situations can be so therapeutic!
Scandal, oh yeah! That show alone will cause me to have a heart attack. The anticipation is real. The show makes me get so mad at myself because I love to the President and Olivia together. ( I don’t care, judge me) One thing I can say is that when I am over thinking something I find myself wide awake at night and I needs my rest so, I try my darnest not to dwell on many things. Stress will leave you restless.
It is so much more easier said than done, but necessary to take the steps to eliminate it!
I heard the buzz last year and didn’t watch but now I want in it looks so good!

Such an excellent post. I love the picture you showed of the woman with the signs of stress that can lead to a heart attack. Actually, it’s not well known all the symptoms women can experience before they suffer a heart attack. So for you to post that that was wonderful.
As for the show, I too am a big fan of scandal. Unlike Olivia, we should do our best to stay away from stressful situations.

Thank you Kalley for appreciating that tip. You are right about people not knowing and recognizing when they should be getting to the Hospital to be treated for potential cardiac issues.
I love your blog! I need to check out the show! Found you on SITS today.

Cool, Thanks for stopping!
I LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. this show! Have loved it since the very beginning! After watching Scandal, I really wish I would have started with Grey’s sooner. I’m not even going to start watching it now though, because I would want to see it from the beginning and I don’t know when I would EVER have time to watch the entire series up to this point. Anyway, tho…back to SCANDAL! I can’t wait until TONIGHT! I love how you relate this show to how their situations can affect your health, because whooo child! These on here are out of control! LOL!
