The PHIIT (STANDARD FORMAT) class of #InThePaint is a results focused approach inspired by Tabata style workouts that include: strength, cardio and plyometric work with a basketball flair! It was created for time-pressed individuals who desire convenient, shorter and energetic workouts that don’t sacrifice quality of the exercise program.

 

In addition, #InThePaint offers a KICK, CORE & STRENGTH format and isolated CORE CAMP classes.

KICK – is 30 minutes of mixed martial arts inspired moves set to Tabata timing with the option to work continuously through the 30 minute workout.

CORE – is a foundational class that focuses on the complete core with moves for the back, butt, gut & deltoids.

FORCE (Strength) – is a low weight high repetition class that last for 40 minutes and focuses on all the major muscle groups in one setting: Squats, Chest, Back, Triceps, Biceps, Lunges, Shoulders & Abs!

BARRE  – is a ballet-inspired sculpting training class (Program is lead by Coach Amber).

WHAT IS TABATA?

Tabata is a form of H.I.I.T. (High Intense Interval Training). It is one of the most efficient ways to burn fat!

Research from Auburn University suggest one 4-minute Tabata round torches 54 calories and increases your metabolism for half an hour afterward.

The work to rest ratio for tabata is 2/1: 20 seconds on and 10 seconds rest for 8 rounds = 4 minute Tabata cycle. A cycle consist of 2 different exercises (combos) working the same area of the body alternated between each other.

For the work phase, think GO 100+% to your fitness level, then 10 seconds of rest to recover!

Tabata Style training is not about spending countless hours working out. The mantra is “more is not better, better is better”.

Thus the core for “In The Paint” was borne based off this research-based exercise coupled with Coach Joi’s experience as a strength and mixed martial arts fitness instructor and history as a collegiate basketball player. In the Paint, you will be coached in the confines of your own home an All-Star H.I.I.T. workout with a basketball flair.

 

WHAT DOES “IN THE PAINT” MEAN?

The paint is an area on the basketball court that is referred to as the key. It is usually painted a different color than the rest of the court. That small amount of space is similar to the space you will need at home or wherever you wake up (work trip, vacation etc.) for the day to get your workout done.

 

WHAT WILL “IN THE PAINT” DO FOR ME?

ABOUT THE SENIOR TRAINER

Coach Joi is a Pharmacist (est. 2006) and Fitness Coach (est. 2011) in the Macon Middle GA community. She is a trained & certified (AFAA) Primary Group Exercise Instructor who concentrated on International renowned Les Mills certification training classes to ignite her fitness career. Blossoming in BODYPUMP and BODYCOMBAT within a year she went on to Misty Mylrea’s Tabata Boot Camp training and earned another fitness certification. Right about the time Joi came on the fitness scene and took the Tabata training, this new trend of H.I.I.T. catapulted to the top of the fitness faves list promptly. It has not slowed pace since that time.

Now, Joi a division II collegiate 4-time champion basketball player, and author of “Diets Are Dead Win Small with M.E.D.S.”  has married her loves of group fitness with the game of basketball to bring you a program with obtainable athleticism with a unique spin. “In the Paint”, she offers strategies to get your weight loss and fitness results straight from her POWER PLAYBOOK! FAQs

HOW MANY TIMES A WEEK SHOULD I GET IN THE PAINT?

You can take every single class on the schedule if your schedule permits.  If you are brand new to working out, then you can start with 3 classes a week.

HOW FIT DO I HAVE TO BE TO DO H.I.I.T. & THE OTHER #INTHEPAINT FORMATS?

ALL programs are designed for any fitness level as there will be options to increase or decrease the intensity to your current fitness level.  If you have specific concerns about particular injuries, Coach Jones is happy to consult with your privately but you are always encouraged to consult your primary care physician if you have health concerns.

WHAT EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO PURCHASE?

STANDARD and KICK do not require any equipment.  CORE offers the option to increase the intensity with the help of a set of small to medium weights (plates, dumbbells, etc.).  It is preferred to have a mat but if you do not own one, you can use a big towel to roll up for the protection of your knees.  STRENGTH is the class that you can use a barbell weight set, a variety of sized dumbbells or items around the house (Suggested list of house items included in your welcome email).

HOW CAN I ACCESS RECORDINGS OF CLASSES IF I MISS?

When you join #InThePaint, you will receive an invitation to join #InThePaint On Demand which includes a welcome note, technique videos, rapid 12 minute releases and some recordings of your Zoom sessions.

    Joi/Rxfitnesslady changed my entire mindset for at home workouts!! I LOVE the “In the Paint” home fitness program because of the variety of classes offered! Joi offers standard, kickboxing and strength classes weekly. The classes are all amazingly fun!! Joi not only conducts the fitness classes, but also educates us on all things related to fitness including healthy lifestyles. I started with Joi in May and I am down 10 inches!     I hate exercise but I LOVE working out with Joi! She keeps us motivated (Let’s go team!) and hydrated (get water!). We have accountability partners and enough sessions to work out 5-6 days a week. This is one of the biggest blessings that came out of a pandemic and I’m loving it.

    I love in the paint with Joi! I love that she teaches all fitness levels! She makes exercising so much fun! I love in the paint! It is addictive!!! I rarely miss a session and I was NOT your typical exercise buff. I literally started straight off of the couch! Joi is a fantastic coach. I was a beginner beginner and I felt comfortable because Joi ALWAYS provide several fitness level options. I started with a lot of “walking in place” which is always a move you can go to if you cannot handle the “burpees, etc.”! Still have goals to get to the “burpee level” and with Joi’s coaching I believe I will get there!
