You Think You’re the Only 1 Who Can Have a Blog

Did you know there was a National Teen Self-Esteem Month?  I have a few thoughts on the subject!

I have explained the Lady in Rx Fitness Lady a few times here.  Basically, I like to serve as a mentor/role-model in the community.  This month, I’m sharing with you some of the teen and “teenish” type of stuff that goes on in my life.

Let’s start with this shocker!

Yes, I Have A Blog

My last week off, I took my “teenish” protégée to Red Lobster for her birthday.  We were just a chatting away and all of a sudden she casually threw out there what she put on her blog!

Shut the Front Door!

Me: Hold up wait…you have a blog?

Her: Yeah, Honey!

Me: ABOUT WHAT! (Yes in shouty capitals, because you know in my head I was like, why haven’t you been on my blog???)

Her: Girl, just everything!  I’m telling it all and trying to inspire people!

Me: Is anybody reading it, I didn’t know about it!

Her: Oh, yeah child, I got plenty of comments!

Me: For how long?

Her: Hum…IDK, last month

I calmed down!  Somehow, I think she may have had an influencer seeing as how she messages me on FB almost everyday 😉 !

She texted me the URL when we both got home & WHOA is all I can say!

After you finish giggling at her signature intro “This ya girl Tamika coming through with another blog post” …I’m sure you will she is definitely a testimony at providing teens with self-esteem encouragement.

I am so proud of her and do hope that you will hop over and & check her out here. It’s a very quick read I promise!

HOW IS THE PARTY PLANNING GOING?

I hope you all are getting geared  up for next week!  I’m so excited and I made a button.  Somebody, I’m pretty sure I know who..suggested I make a button for the blog.  Well that is coming. I am going to take some pictures this month and hopefully get some better branding going for Rx Fitness Lady.  Anywho…grab the button from my side bar please if you would be so kind.  There is still time to join!

  1. Your protégée is fantastic! I love all of her topics like forgiveness and HIV. She is coming from a teens perspective and I would have loved that when I was younger. You can tell she has a really great spirit.

  2. Girl – I tell my students all the time. WRITE DOWN YOUR THOUGHTS. It will help them get their thoughts out and learn to better express themselves. Some of my kiddos, I’m not sure I want to read it haha but still – this is awesome!

    1. Yeah, me either. I can’t follow some of the teens on twitter. I follow and immediately see them tweeting profanity and eluding to sex…I CAN’T!!!! LOL

  3. She really is fantastic! “Me looking cute” is a wonderful title. For real. I wish I had had a blog in high school. I think it would have made my high school and then college experiences so different. I’m glad everything turned out the way it had (mainly that I started a blog) but I have so much to learn still!

  4. Oh, how I needed to read that child’s blog! It blesses my heart. I’m crying as I am typing this message. What a beautiful heart she has. It’s refreshing to see such positivity, encouragement, and thoughtfulness in today’s youth. I loved her post People with Disabilities. She has such an openness and a strength that is just moving. God bless her!

    1. Thanks so much for reading it Veronica! I’m glad it touched you so. She is a joy to be around!

  5. I love your dialogue here. I can hear it all. I checked over at Tamika’s blog and I love her tagline, what an awesome mission! (tell her to populate her about page, her readers want to know more! 😉 I’m glad you shared her link)

  6. Yes, Tamika has a testimony. So inspiring to hear about people with positive attitudes despite their circumstances. Applauding you for being a mentor. One of my aunts is retiring soon and she told me she wanted to pick my brain on blogging. I told her that she could do guest posts on my blog to get started. She said, “No, I want my own blog.” Shut the front door on THAT! I misspoke thinking I was helping.

Already working on my first two posts for the blog party next week. Looking forward to it!

    1. LOL, now that’s funny! Blogging for a week is slamming me, I don’t know how you’re doing it all month my friend!

  7. The exchange between the both of you is hilarious!…and your post title makes it that much more funny. Whether or not you inspired her to start a blog, the important thing is that you’re a positive influence in her life; especially with all that she’s overcome. Keep doing what you’re doing Joi. Great post.

Btw, I’m so not ready for the party, but I’m trying. I need about 6 more hours in each day to make it happen. We’ll see what my posts look like 🙂

    1. Thanks Hope! As for the challenge, it’s a challenge for most of us from what I’m hearing and getting emailed, lol! I think it will be fun. I’m excited to see your creativity. I should email you the video my sister and I were doing last night…so funny..totally can’t go on here!

    1. Yes girl! It’s hard out here in the streets trying to get your friends to read your blog…I’ve pretty much given up on that 🙂 The ones that come through, I’m grateful and I don’t worry about the others!

    1. I understand Andrea. My hats off to those who blog everyday!!! I know whatever you come up with will be intriguing!

    1. Thanks Illene! I hope she has found some inspiration from hanging out with me. Even if she didn’t for the blog, I’m super proud of her for it.

    1. Thanks for checking out Tamika’s blog. The challenge made me learn something new in making a blog button.
