Old School Blogging, Do You Have a Gravatar

Old School Blogging is taking the place of Act-Fit Friday today! I gave you some Basketball Life Lessons Monday, so we should be cool :).

Elaine and and her co-host Katie switched it up this month and asked for pictures and or words of your Fridge!  When I read Elaine’s post, I just had to draft this post because of a recent occurrence.  Therefore, I give you….

Old School Blogging, Do You Have A Gravatar - Rx Fitness Lady

First off, are you following me on the PFL Facebook fan page? If not, you may have missed this update.

Do You Have A Gravatar - Rx Fitness Lady

So, if you want to be sharp and jazzy like the mother of Rx Fitness Lady, then visit the Gravatar site and set up a picture to accompany your sweet comments from now on.  It is really simple to follow so add it to the to do list this weekend, EmK 😉

More on why you should have a gravatar from Kenya. We just happen to be on the same page this week.

A Few Gravatar Tips

  • Choose a clear image
  • Make the image non-offensive
  • Choose a warm photo that shows teeth or makes you feel good
  • Make sure it’s current and matches what people see when they visit your blog (if you have a blog)
  • Choose a picture not a button

So, I know everyone doesn’t have a fancy photo like that of Mother, so just do the best you can.

She was recently chosen as one of the best dressed women in our city by a local paper, that is why she had multiple shots for me to choose from to set up a gravatar.

WHAT THE WHAT, Joi! This is suppose to be OSB! I know, I know…

So back to the fridge, it will all come together! I chose my parents fridge, because mine is simply blah (book club magnet and calendar)!

The other night, Mother came up the stairs & asked Amber (did you read the post on her Wednesday?) and me did we see all the new “souvenirs” on fridge?

We were like, huh?

Our usual fridge front contains…

  • Wedding anouncements and or Thank you notes
  • Graduation Invitations
  • School pictures
  • Magnets
  • A few miscellaneous stuff

So, I went to check it out, and here is what I saw…

Old School Blogging, August - Rx Fitness Lady

She really enjoyed that photo shoot 🙂 We are not going inside that bad boy! No way, Jose!!!

I will share the HOUSE RULE – Anything in the house (Fridge, pantry, etc.) is up for grabs! So forget if you paid like $50 for a meal that you only tasted and brought home for later, ANYBODY that gets to it first can have it! We are all cool with it!

This month I am tagging Kita, Leah, &  Nellie.

T.G.I.F., Enjoy the weekend!

Rx Fitness Lady wants to know…

  • Do you like your current gravatar? If you don’t follow the guidelines above in creating one, please tell us why?
  • Do you eat leftovers? Would you be upset if I ate your leftovers 🙂 ?

  1. Yes I would be through with you if you ate my leftovers. I strategically eat just enough at the restaurant so the leftovers won’t be a teaser. Often I’ll GIVE my leftovers to my son, but he better not help himself. 😉 I’m going to link this post to your name in my post. Great timing huh?

    1. Oh, you don’t think we eat strategically too 🙂 It doesn’t matter, you will get merked in our household. Whenever we tell people that, they are either 100% on board with our way or they are absolutely appalled and start telling us how we’d get cussed out and such and such, lol!

Yes awesome timing, just getting a chance to update. Let me go link as well.

    1. Cool, that’s understandable. With you all, I often wish whoever was making the visit would use their own personal picture. I know new people don’t know that it’s 2 of you, but for the regulars, I’d love to see a face…especially since it’s 2 of you.

      1. No sharing Nellie! What will you do when you come visit me and I swipe you..haha! I know here sometimes, you type your email address wrong. I don’t know how because I though when you all that regularly visit come over, the fields are already there for you and you just leave your comment. Is that a wrong assumption on my part?

  2. I saw that FB post. Your mom is very beautiful and classy… great “additions” to the fridge. lol. (love all the cool little magnets she has)
I eat left overs, but it doesn’t really bother me if my hubby or kids eat it…often times I forget to eat it and it goes bad. But there are times when I’m banking on my left overs…I make an announcement that I’m gonna eat it later… I had to learn announce it because one time I fantasized about my left over, rushed home starved and ready to enjoy it…and it was gone.

My gravatar is a year old. The only difference is that my hair has grown. I was thinking of using a more professional pic, but I’m cool with it for now.

    1. I happen to love my gravatar, can you tell, lol 🙂 Anywho, that Public Service Announcement is useless around these parks. Fantasize if you will, but you better make a phone call before coming home 😉

  3. I don’t think I like that house rule! LOL! Your mom’s gravatar looks really nice! 🙂 I do love my gravatar, it’s not my current picture on my blog, only because I have sooo many accounts, changing all of the pictures becomes a hassle! My gravatar picture is one that falls by the waist side because I don’t really think much about it.

  4. I am very sensitive about my left overs, in fact, I write my name on the container. Sometimes I even write a special note to my husband and the consequences for eating my leftover too. lol Eating my leftovers makes me even more upset then someone creasing AND reading a brand new magazine that came in the mail before me. 🙂 I’m a little OCD about these two things.

    1. That’s funny! When we see a name on a box, people start making jokes. The only thing you better write on there is a date and we appreciate that! Hum, to the magazine. I never even thought of that!

  5. From the pictures you’ve posted I can see why your mom was voted Best Dressed! What a beauty.
I know I need to make a gravatar Joi! I keep thinking that I will get around to it and then I don’t. 🙁
Your mom’s fridge looks like my bff’s. She’s got photos all over. I have one picture of Eliana but other than that I don’t have too much.
Note to self-if I ever stay at the Jone’s house make sure to keep food under lock and key.heehee

    1. Well, I’d love to see your pretty face in the comments section. It really doesn’t take but a second and you already have an awesome picture!

  6. Your mom has some SWAG! I love it. Yes, I like my G photo but it doesn’t match my FB or Twitter photo and I know that’s kind of a no-no but the one I have there doesn’t show my face really well. What’s a blogger to do??
    Allie recently posted…99 PROBLEMSMy Profile

    1. Thanks Allie! Yeah, your avi does look a little different from your blog photo. Kinda confused me the fist time I visited, lol! More so bc the pics were mostly active with hats and this one is just smiley! It’s cool though. My blog is fitness/health inspired, but all of pictures are the “Lady” representation in Rx Fitness Lady, because that’s what I look like most of the time.

  7. Wow, your Mom is a hottie! I love that she has all those wonderful photos of her and she DOES dress nice! 🙂 Thanks for playing along… and now I am super hungry.

    1. Girl, I know you aren’t here for the pictures! Honestly though, I feel like you are a mystery. I’ve seen a few pictures of you, but the rest of these people, I see their smiling face on a regular. I wish I had that image of you too 🙂

  8. Mine is ok. It’s Des and me, being all snuggly so I do like it but I could probably find a better one day. It doesn’t show my teeth, though!
I do eat leftovers. Want some turkey burgers?
    Tamara recently posted…You’re Extraordinary.My Profile

    1. In my opinion, yours is warm and welcoming. I like it. There has to be something about the gravatar that makes you a person, for most of us, it’s smiling. Yours is most appropriate for all that you blog about…again, this is my opinion 🙂

    1. Thanks Meredith! I know I see your face on blogger blogs, but on self-hosted, you have to use this site listed above to make it show. Are you signed up with gravatar.com?

  9. I created a gravatar very soon after I started blogging. Like your mother, I couldn’t figure out why other people’s pic was showing up and not mine when I left comments. I think I read about gravatars in another blogger’s post about things all new bloggers should know and I immediately created one.

I have eaten leftovers all my life. More so now than I used to. I would be highly upset if you ate my leftovers!

  10. I have a gravatar – I don’t even remember how I set it up but maybe I should figure it out and change it.
We eat left-overs but I rarely eat mine if I bring them home so it wouldn’t bother me if someone helped themselves! I like y’all’s house rules on the fridge!!

    1. 🙂 I love it! I love your gravatar too seeing as you are the hardest working fitness lady I know out here in this blog world!

  11. Your mom is so awesome! I would love to get an award like that. And a photo shoot.

I only have an IC (interstitial cystitis) diet reminder on my fridge. Wouldn’t want to feed the hubs the wrong thing.

I have gravatars on almost every account imaginable. I just can’t always get them to show up!
Carli recently posted…My Midlife Crisis Bucket ListMy Profile

    1. So many have said that. Mine always show, not sure what the deal is with that. Yours doesn’t show here, do you use gravatar.com?

  12. Joi, it would be on and poppin’ if you touched my leftovers! That’s one sure way to see me go from lady to you-know-what in under 10 seconds! Plus, we always say at home that “second day food” tastes better than the original. LOL

Your mom is a doll! She is right to want an avatar. If I was looking that gorgeous, I’d definitely be rolling out a rockin’ avatar too. But I’ve always used one because I hate the blank ones or the ones with strange designs.
Alison Hector recently posted…The goodness of GodMy Profile

    1. Oh Alison, you hit the nail on the head with home cooked left overs. Those collard greens, OMG..second day..YES!

  13. Your mom is beautiful, I love my gravatar. I wouldn’t be upset if you ate my leftovers, I am a terrible dinner date. I eat a small portion of my meal and bring the rest home. So my husband usually eats my leftovers.
Whitney recently posted…What’s Brewing at The CafeMy Profile

  14. I have a gravatar but I don’t think it’s the best pic. I think I need to find a picture and use it across the board – but then it’s got to be a good pic! Your Mama is gorgeous! Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
Leah Davidson recently posted…Terms of EndearmentMy Profile

  15. <<<<<<< My Gravatar is my work photo and I love it this one. The old one made me look big and tall and I'm simply neither one of those. So this one makes me super pleased.

I don't eat leftovers! I will leave the food at the restaurant before I eat them again. I'm not all stuck up either, I just don't think it taste the same the next day.

  16. Why am I not surprised your mom was voted best dressed?! 🙂 As far as the gravatar…mine could use an update. You all are real good…cause’ my family knows, if you even THINK about my left overs, yes I said THINK(as in *to have a certain thing as the subject of one’s thought*)…you’ll get it and get it real good! Lol! Anyone who knows me knows, you.don’t.mess.with.my.food. No talking over it, reaching over it, putting your fork or spoon in it(um, don’t even think about that one or you’ll lose a hand), peeping in it, etc., etc. Yes Joi, I.am.serious! 😀 Whew, sorry…didn’t mean to go on a spill! Can you tell…you touched a nerve…bahaha! 😀 Have a good one Joi!

    1. I LOOVVEEE your gravatar! Please don’t change it. It’s so pretty! I’m not even going there with that food, you would be knocking our heads off around here 🙂
