Act-Fit Friday – Fitness Survey

For this episode of Act-Fit Friday, I’m hopping on board a Fitness survey I read on Britton’s blog. I love surveys and you will see more of them here going forward. You might be surprised by some of my answers but Kate encouraged me to share some of my struggling points.

Act- Fit Friday - Fitness Survey

What did you eat for breakfast?

I don’t eat breakfast

How much water do you drink a day?

6 -7 bottles on average

What is your current favorite workout?

Take a guess and the first 3 don’t count!

Fitness Survey - BODYCOMBAT

Did you guess BODYCOMBAT? You should have remembered my Mean Streak 🙂

How many calories do you eat a day?

Do you ever see me blog about food, IDK!

What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Almonds other than that, I don’t snack

What is your favorite body part to strength train?

Back and legs, well at least these are my favorite 2 BODYPUMP tracks!

What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

Biceps and triceps – Did you see me whining on Nellie’s post about tricep dips *side-eye*

What are your “bad” food cravings?

Again, you get three guesses

Pizza, hot wings, and Dr. Pepper

Do you take vitamins or supplements?

No

How often do you eat out?

Daily

Do you eat fast food?

Yes, Chick-Fil-A it on a regular and there is a sign in the window at Zaxby’s that says they aren’t fast food 😉

Who is your biggest supporter?

My sister shows the most interest in new releases, class participation, etc. She’s always engaging me and asking questions about how class went and she comes when she can.

Do you have a gym membership?

Yes, it’s a perk of being an instructor, but there was a time I had a grudge against gyms.

How many hours of sleep do you get a night?

Work week – anywhere from 3 & 1/2 to 6

Off week – anywhere from 3 – 10, yes, I know, that is a strange sleep schedule but I honestly don’t need a lot of sleep

Do you have a cheat day?

No, I pretty much eat the same everyday

Do you drink alcohol?

Yes

Do you have a workout buddy?

Ain’t nobody got time for that with my schedule. I have plenty of friends at the gym that take my classes or other group classes, but I don’t need them there to get my workout on!

What has the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

I’ve always been fairly healthy but some periods of my life, I’d wax and wane with regular workouts and I’d end up taking pictures that looked like I was 3 to 4 months pregnant (really weird that tummy of mine)

Now I’m mostly pleased with my pictures!

Act - Fit Friday - Fitness Survey

What was the last healthy thing you did?

Well, you all are quite aware that 99% of my post are prescheduled, so at the typing of this post, I have just completed a week that consisted of teaching 7 classes, WHOOP!

What are your favorite shoes to workout in?

Nike Free Tr Fit 3 – I often post pictures on Instagram.

Photo of your favorite workout outfit

OLDIE PHOTO - BUT BY FAR ONE OF MY FAVORITE BODYPUMP OUTFITS
OLDIE, BUT BY FAR ONE OF MY FAVORITE BODYPUMP OUTFITS

I love to wear tights for BODYPUMP or loose capri length like jogging pants for COMBAT and fitted tank for PUMP and loose fitting tank for COMBAT 🙂

BODYCOMBAT ATTIRE - FITNESS SURVEY

These pants and top are what I like to wear to COMBAT even though I’m posing on a weight machine 🙂 !

  1. Ahhhh I just love these survey posts, so fun! (You know I want to do one now too right? I saw you and Britt and Allie do it so I think I need to join the partayyyy lol!

So! You don’t have to worry about bi’s and tri’s because you have arms of steel young lady! I’ve seen them in person, they are real! Lol you don’t eat breakfast? It’s my favorite meal! I love that ur sissy is so supportive! Love those workout fits!!

    1. It was kinda fun to put together Nellie! I’ll be looking forward to yours. I have never been a breakfast girl, don’t like breakfast food all that much and I’m not thinking about food in the morning. I’ve tried, it feels forced.

  2. Glad I’m not the only one that doesn’t eat breakfast on a regular but with my schedule who could. Had pizza the other night and the next day I tried to kill myself with a workout. You’ve never had a stomach either!!! Lol.

    1. I didn’t eat breakfast even before going overnights. I just don’t like it. I bet that pizza was well worth the workout:)

  3. I really like these surveys! I used to skip breakfast years ago, but I started to change my lifestyle when I first got married. So Mr. C and I started on the breakfast train and been on it ever since! Also,I love the workout outfits!

    1. Thanks Lisa! It’s odd because my group fitness manager nor me eat breakfast and we couldn’t fathom eating and coming to teach. Half the members are the opposite and can’t figure out how we get up and teach multiple classes without eating. It makes me feel funny to have food on my stomach before working out. Not to mention the gas, EWH!!!

  4. I hadn’t thought about it til now but you don’t post about food, cals, restrictions. I kind of like that about your blog. I don’t need much sleep either. My mom is the same way. Not sure if it is a blessing or a curse. I can be wide awake and go all day strong on just a few hours. My husband doesn’t understand this because he NEEDS more than 7hrs to function.ha
Our similarities are many. I don’t really snack. When I eat I like to EAT so snacking doesn’t jive well with me(I guess that’s why I’ve overdone it in the snacking department before). I also don’t have a workout buddy. I gotta be able to get in and out of the gym and be super efficient with my time. I can’t chit chat and work out. It just doesn’t work for me.

    1. NOPE, no food talk here! I feel there are enough blogs that provide that and actually like talking about it. I don’t! We are very similar as we just keep discovering as the blog journeys continue boo!

  5. I need at least 6 hours of sleep or I’m no good. One thing I’m proud of is that I don’t drink soda, never been a big fan of it. Now, I drink sweet tea as a treat, love that stuff. I don’t eat scheduled meals but I should. Exercise, a work in progress but I try.

  6. We are almost twins!!! I could answer the same to almost everything except the favorite shoes and I rarely wear fitted capris/shorts to workout in cause they don’t work well with my hips!!! I think the rest are a match!!! (and I’m gonna add running to my favorite – with Body Pump, of course!)
Kim recently posted…An Attempt at Being CraftyMy Profile

  7. Oh yeah that Pizza was the best! Lol. I wish you got more rest though but you are a soldier for teaching class after work.

  8. I can’t believe how little sleep you get! And your body must get all messed up from the shifts – so it’s very impressive you are able to handle it! My biggest weakness is not drinking enough water. I am on the road all day visiting clients – and let’s just say I don’t often want to use their bathrooms (ugh), so I end up not drinking enough:( I know it affects my energy level for sure. Love these surveys by the way! Glad you get a kick out of my “u’s” too. I’m so glad I said something or you would think I was this weird speller!
    Leah recently posted…Happiest TimesMy Profile

    1. I must say, my body is about tired of the weekly shifts. I am having trouble sleeping now. It wasn’t like this always. I still love my 7 days off enough to stick with it for now though. Surveys are fun!

  9. You don’t eat breakfast? I thought people said that’s one of the best ways to lose weight. I eat in the mornings my problem is I don’t eat at all for the rest of the day until dinner and if I eat breakfast around 11 or 12 I don’t eat anything until the next day I feel full probably because I drink my calories. Ain’t nobody bout to work out with you as no buddy you will have my butt in pain and then I would have to cuss you out lol.
Kita recently posted…Convo between the kidsMy Profile

    1. I don’t like breakfast food Kita and I workout in the mornings. Eating and then going to workout is a no no for me! I feel terribly uncomfortable and heavy! I like working out on an empty stomach, just a little water beforehand.

  10. Do I have a workout buddy – nope! Don’t need one, don’t want one. I have a neighbor up the street I avoid like the plague. Every time IF she see’s me out walking she will say, “You need to call me when you get ready to walk.” I don’t want to “Stroll” around the neighborhood and talk. I want to power walk to my music. It’s my time. Now a few years ago when my husband was deployed my mom would come and stay with me for about a week out of the month. We had fun hanging out together and part of our routine was going to the gym. We are just like one another. We went in there went our separate ways and got it done. I don’t like to talk on the treadmill – ain’t nobody got time for that! 😉 Yummy to Chick-fila. What do you get? I am same thing every time – 8 piece nuggets w/ ranch, fries and a DIET Dr. Pepper. Uh huh – I’m one of those.
Kenya G. Johnson recently posted…Call me “Pam”…My Profile

    1. ROTFL at the aggravating neighbor! I bet that is so annoying to even have to dodge her! I remember on an old post “fitness friends” I think you told me you and your mom were kindred spirits in the way of minding your own business at the gym 🙂

Spicy deluxe, no cheese & fries…yum! Sometimes grilled chicken sandwich and salad…I love them both! Always lemonade with light ice 🙂

  11. Can I just say how much I love to see a fitness/health blogger admit that she doesn’t count calories? Life is too short to count every single stinking calorie! I know that some people need it, but just the thought makes me want to go run and cry. As far as picking a question…I’m going to choose “Who’s your biggest supporter?” I’d definitely say that my bloggy friends (including you!) are my biggest supporters. The Husband just doesn’t want to hear about it, and my family wants to offer way to much crazy advice (it’s easy for a retired person to advise working out ten hours a week!)
Leslie recently posted…Let’s Talk Baby WearingMy Profile

    1. That is funny about family! People come up with the most ridiculous antics! I know exactly how you feel! Yes, I agree about life being to short. I’m all about portion control and not just eating straight crazy every day of the week…works for me!

  12. You are amazing! My bad food cravings are like yours. And I have no idea how many calories I eat. Nor what I weigh. I don’t own a scale and never will. Weekend plans? Pool party today (I need to stop looking at blogs!) and my parents will be here for the next week. Then school starts the day after they leave so it is going to be one crazy week. And my Fresh Air child is here till Monday!

    1. A house full! Sounds fun! I will not be looking for you too tough this week in the blog world. ENJOY Michelle!

  13. Thanks for the mention lady, very kind of you!

What did you eat for breakfast? – Muesli with soy milk, I can’t get enough of it!

Like I said before, I really like your honesty with this post. As for pictures of you, I always felt the same about mine until I lost weight, I shock myself at how ok I am with pictures being taken now!

    1. NP, I really liked that post and could definitely see the benefit in sharing with my readers here. Have a good rest of the weekend!

  14. Hey Joi!
You are hilarious with noticing the Zaxby’s thing! My son just got his first job there. Gotta ask, when you got Chik fil a, what do you get? The fries are my weakness. You have true dedication to your craft of fitness and are a great inspiration to many, this blog serves as the witness to that. So, in a testimony to that inspiration:
What was the last healthy thing you did?
I took a Zumba class for the first time just an hour ago! Man, is it different than my regular class! I fumbled my way through and am so proud that I didn’t give up just cause I couldn’t keep up! That is how I kicked off my Saturday morning. Enjoy your weekend!
Tiffany recently posted…My 5 mixed emotions about back to school…My Profile

    1. Awesome way to kick off a Saturday Tiffany! Good job pushing through & thank you for supporting the blog. Of course the fries are a weakness, but right now I’m loving the spicy chicken deluxe..yummy!!!!

  15. Mmm…I love Chick-fi-la too! My “bad” food cravings…Breyers butter pecan ice cream, original Klondike bars, Schiano’s cheese pizza and a good ole’ Five Guys cheeseburger. Because it’s been raining cats and dogs ALL weekend…I’m opening up my tablet and reading all those free e-books I downloaded. Have a good weekend Joi! Btw…you look mahhh-velous girl! 😉
Michell recently posted…“Michell’s Weekly Pearl”My Profile

    1. Thank you Michell! I love butter pecan and black walnut ice cream, but I rarely indulge! You have made me want to revisit my old Sunday ice cream treat tradition.

  16. Wow, you don’t eat breakfast? Who knew? LOL! I love me some brekkies so I know I couldn’t go without it.
I’m an almonds fan too, but I snack on a lot of fruit and sometimes yogurt. Popeye’s is always calling my name but nowadays I’ve become better at drowning out his voice. 🙂

I hate to do leg curls, but they do make a difference in defining my pins. Yet, overall, working my legs is my favorite!
Alison Hector recently posted…On a watch for freedom…My Profile

    1. Ok, no pressure Allison, but can I just say that I always look forward to your witty comments. They make my day girl 🙂

If anyone is browsing the comments…I love you too 🙂

  17. I am surprised that you don’t eat breakfast. I don’t either. I’m jealous that you drink that much water. I’m better than I used to be but still need to do more of that. I’m going to start a 3 day juicing plan on Monday without alcohol. Oooh, I am going to be biting my lip and taking lots of deep breaths. But I know it’s going to be great for my body.
Kimberly H. Smith recently posted…Juicing: Is This What The Hunger Games Is About? My Profile

    1. That’s what the sign says! 95% of the time, I get the salad but I do get the chicken fried…what’s a girl to do!

  18. This is such a fun post. You are a creature of habit as far of your eating goes…that’s awesome. I can understand why you don’t need a cheat day because you dont seem to deprive yourself. I like the spring salad from chick fil a…but I always substitute the grilled chicken from the grease laden crispy chicken (lol.)
I’m a member of the local Y where I work out regularly. The downside is that they open late and close early on the weekend.
The family went to Disney World for an extended weekend…that’s why I’m just commenting 🙂

    1. Disney World sounds fun! Good deal! You can stop all the explaining my friend! Whenever you grace this blog with your presence is fine with me boo! I don’t sub the grilled chicken 🙁 or 🙂 depending on who is reading this, lol !!!

  19. I liked reading all that about you!

First of all, I never eat break-the-fast and haven’t in longer than I can remember!

I pretty much eat the same every day and I never count calories. I just know what’s high or low and I account for it all in the portions I eat.

Obviously, what you are doing is working!!

    1. Yeah I had to get creative with the photos as you can see, I used a photo from an old post. It was a fun and easy post to put together. I’ll look forward to reading it Gillan!

    1. You chug water boo….you are doing better than I thought 🙂 You are always talking junk…look at you, next thing ya know, you’ll be teaching a fitness class.
